Fire at Pepperwood Preserve

In the early hours of Oct. 9, The Tubbs Fire swept across the corner of Pepperwood Preserve, and over the next four days fire spread across most of the Preserve. Most of the Ackerly Lab long-term forest dynamics plots were impacted by the fire, some just scorched by a ground fire and a few severly burned with high tree mortality. We are just completing the first round of rapid post-fire assessments, including a detailed picture of the rate and pattern of fire spread based on the temperature spikes recorded by our Hobo data loggers (only a few melted!).
